Group banjo classes and workshops

Dick Smith teaches 5-String Banjo classes in 3 finger picking/Bluegrass style for beginners and improvers. Classes are held in Tooting on Tuesdays and Walthamstow on Wednesdays. Please find the addresses below:

Banjo class times and locations

There are group banjo classes for complete beginners, improvers and intermediate levels.

Please contact Dick to enquire as to what your ability may be, so that you can be placed into the appropriate group or held on a waiting list for the commencement of a new group.

Banjo workshop prices

  • The classes run concurrently with the school term times wherever possible. A term's duration is usually around 12 to 15 weeks.
  • The full term fees are paid in advance before the term commences. Classes are £15 per class.

Interested in joining a banjo class?

  • Absolute beginners and intermediate banjo classes in Walthamstow on Wednesday evenings
    New beginners term starts April 18th 2018. For the intermediates, you should join these classes if you have a little or more experience playing the banjo.

  • Beginners, improvers and intermediate/advanced banjo classes in Tooting on Tuesday evenings
    New beginners started January 9th 2018, you should join the beginners if you have a little experience playing the banjo or have played other musical instruments. The improver banjo workshop if you have have a little more experience, and the intermediate if you have played for a few years.
